I had so much fun today being a guest on the Tom Williams Show with Attorney Jon Duane! We had a fantastic talk about how long term wellness should be your goal, rather than any quick fixes. We discussed everything from small changes you can make to going on a completely new career path to help our wellness.
When it comes to wellness, there’s not just one thing you can add or take away from your life to make it better, you need to make a number of positive changes. The changes could be as small as exercising more to improve your fitness or seeing your friends more but for the best improvement in your wellness, it’s usually best to make more drastic changes.
For example, I talk about how my friend was working a 9 to 5 office job with a long commute time that was leaving her too exhausted to do anything she wanted to do after work. Her mental and physical health were not in a good place and she knew she had to change something. She made a resolution to make more time to do things she enjoyed doing and less time worrying about work. So, instead of taking lunches at her desk, she got out of the office and went to the gym or met with friends. She stopped staying after-hours in the office and get more sleep so she wasn’t too tired to do things when she got home so she was able to explore writing, cooking, and singing – all hobbies she wanted to take up for years. Her general wellness is now so much better since she started focussing on herself and is even looking into self publishing companies with plans to release a new book somewhere down the line.
It’s amazing what you can do if you when you start focussing on your long-term wellness and start doing things you actually want to do. If you are still working on your new years resolution, you should check it out!
