Like many of you I grew with the Standard American Diet (SAD). Though I ate fruits and vegetables, I also ate a lot of processed foods. Most of the protein I ate came from animal protein vs. vegetable protein. I loved salty crunchy chips(especially corn chips), cookies, candy and ice cream. I enjoyed all my white foods, bread, pasta, rice and of course french fries.

LInda HeadshotMy first major weight gain was my freshman year in college. I put on the freshmen 15, and vowed that summer to take it off. I gave up beer and counted my calories making myself aware of everything that went into my mouth. I took off all of the weight but then it would slowly creep back on. After college I started a busy career and ate on run a lot, rarely taking the time to prepare a meal at home. Who had time to do that?

I had my first “aha” moment when my dad had a heart attack at age 62, I had just turned 30 at the time. I remember looking at him after bypass surgery with all of the tubes and machines that they had him hooked up to  and thinking, I need to seriously start taking charge of my health or this could be me. So I started off on my journey to live a healthier lifestyle. I had many set backs along the way, but with each set back I dug a little deeper and finally began to make the connection of how I felt good when I ate certain foods, exercised and managed my stress. I felt more vibrant, energetic, confident and mostly I felt joyful.

My path took me to graduate school where I recieved my M.Ed. in Health Promotion with a concentration in Exercise Science, from Bridgewater State College. I eventually left my corporate job and received my Yoga Teacher Certification from Finding Inner Peace.

Most recently I attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.
